Test 1: Detection of Vegetable Fat or Vanaspati
Test 1: Detection of Vegetable Fat or Vanaspati
This test uses a specific chemical reaction where furfural and hydrochloric acid develop a characteristic rose-red colour if vanaspati or vegetable fats are present.
Quick Procedure:
- Prepare: Fully melt your ghee sample until it is liquid.
- Add: Pipette 0.5 ml of melted ghee into the "Test 1" vial and add 0.5 ml of Acid Reagent 1.
- Mix: Close the cap and shake vigorously for 2 minutes.
- Settle: Allow the vial to settle until two layers form.
Interpreting Results:
- Positive Result: A distinct pink or rose-red colour appears in the lower acidic layer.
- Negative Result: The acidic layer remains clear or pale.
- Confirmation: Add 0.5 ml of water and shake again. If the rose-red colour persists, the sample is confirmed adulterated.
Test 2: Detection of Starch Adulteration
Test 2: Detection of Starch Adulteration
Starch is often added to ghee to artificially increase its thickness and texture. This test identifies starch through its reaction with iodine, which produces a blue-black complex.
Quick Procedure:
- Add: Place 0.5 ml of completely melted ghee into the "Test 2" vial.
- Reagent: Add a few drops of Reagent 2.
- Mix: Stir, close the cap, and shake for 1 minute.
Interpreting Results:
- Positive Result: A blue-black colour develops.
- Negative Result: The sample remains clear with only a slight iodine tint.

Anveshan has surely let down the trust.
I have never seen such pathetic ghee in my whole life.
Never smell of ghee at all. Was simply a granulated form of vegitable vanaspati and nothing more.
I have been using ghee for very long time and been extracting ghee from cows milk and buffalo's milk . The aroma and feel is heavenly when compared to it anveshan's ghee is absolutely no match.
And this is not only my experience but my in laws too.
Hence it is requested to stop fooling people and concentrate on product.
I wish I am clear with my experience and would never go for any anveshan's product.
Very valuable product for food safety testing.
Best quality testing kit I have ever used.
Highly satisfied with this product. Will buy again.
